Dolly Parton marked
the release of her first children’s album “I Believe In You” on Friday
with a trip to the Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
Parton’s album was released digitally Sept. 29 and is in stores worldwide today.
Parton
wrote every song on the album, which includes the song “Chemo Hero”
that she hopes will encourage children facing tough times. The song was
inspired by a child from Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at
Vanderbilt.
Proceeds from “I Believe in You” will
benefit Parton’s Imagination Library that ships age appropriate books
monthly to more than 1 million children in four countries.
“My
first album was released 50 years ago and it's been an amazing 50 years
since then,” Parton said in a statement. “I am very excited that now
I'm coming out with my first children's album in all of those 50 years.
I'm proudest of all the proceeds from this CD will go to the Imagination
Library.”
