Nicki Minaj may not have testified on behalf of her brother Jelani Maraj, but The Pinkprint rapper did recently pay him a visit behind bars.
According to a report from TMZ,
Nicki got to see Maraj for the first time since he was found guilty in
his child rape trial, but only went in support of her mother. Sources
claim that Minaj has not had a close relationship with her brother since
he was first charged with raping his then 11-year-old stepdaughter. The
rapper reportedly made an exception for her mother, Carol, taking her
to visit Jelani at the Nassau County Jail last week. Carol had not seen
her son since the guilty verdict.
On Nov. 9, Maraj was found guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child and endangering the welfare of a child.
The child was the daughter of Maraj's then-wife, Jacqueline Robinson.
The girl, along with her brother, testified during the trial.
According
to police, Maraj's semen was found on the girl's pajamas, but the
defense argued the girl and her mother planted the evidence. Maraj's
lawyer also claimed the mother and daughter tried to extort Minaj and
Maraj for $25 million. The attorney initially claimed Nicki would be
taking the stand in defense of her brother, but took back the statement
later on.
Maraj is set to be sentenced on Dec. 14. He is facing 25 years to life.
