Jennifer Hudson Allows Son To Spend Thanksgiving With David Otunga

David Otunga will have custody of his son with Jennifer Hudson on Thanksgiving. The acrimonious exes faced off in court Tuesday, where a hearing determined that David Daniel Otunga Jr. will be with Otunga, 37, from 3 p.m. Thursday to 7 p.m. Friday, TMZ reports.

Hudson, 36, granted Otunga written permission to have their son for the agreed period, after which she will retain full custody of the child.
At a subsequent hearing on Monday, Otunga will reportedly request that a judge vacate a protective order Hudson filed against him.

On Friday, Hudson’s rep told Page Six, “Jennifer Hudson and David Otunga have been in the process of ending their relationship for a number of months. Yesterday, Jennifer requested and received a protective order against her ex-fiancé. Jennifer’s actions are solely taken in the best interest of their son.”

The pair is gearing up for a battle over primary residential custody of the 8-year-old.
The “Dreamgirls” star accused Otunga of “aggressive” behavior, TMZ reported, including allegedly pushing her out of their bedroom suite and using their son to record her interactions with other men while in a Chicago recording studio. Otunga denied the allegations in a statement from his attorney, Tracy Rizzo.

“When it became apparent to Ms. Hudson that Mr. Otunga would be the parent granted residential care of the child, as a result of Mr. Otunga being the child’s primary caregiver while Ms. Hudson pursues her career all over the world, Ms. Hudson decided to file a meritless Petition for Order of Protection in an effort to gain an unfair advantage in the custody dispute,” Rizzo said Friday. “Mr. Otunga has never abused or harassed Ms. Hudson or their son, and it is unfortunate … that she would feel the need to make these false allegations against him. Mr. Otunga looks forward to his day in court and in being awarded the residential care of the parties’ only child.”
