The royal couple
were in good company as they posed in front of the Thomas
Gainsborough’s paintings of George III and Queen Charlotte – who were
famously devoted to each other for 57-years.
The Queen beamed in a cream day dress by Angela Kelly which was finished off with a ‘Scarab’ yellow gold brooch – a personal gift from the prince to the Queen in 1966. The Duke of Edinburgh looked handsome in a smart three-piece suit.
The couple celebrate their official anniversary on Monday. Matt Holyoak, who took the picture, said: “I feel very honoured and privileged to have been asked to contribute to this very special occasion.
"My vision for the image was to capture an intimate and natural portrait of the Queen and Duke to celebrate their landmark anniversary.
“The Queen and the Duke were very happy and relaxed which made it a pleasure. I feel the images showcase their strength and unity”.
Queen Elizabeth turned 91 in April, and is the longest living queen in world history.
