Gucci Mane's Probation Has Been Terminated Two Years Early

In May of 2016, Gucci Mane was released from the Federal Correctional Institution in Terre Haute, Ind. He had been serving a three-year sentence after pleading guilty to aggravated assault following an attack on a fan in an Atlanta nightclub in March 2013. Last year, he was sentenced to three years of probation for a federal gun charge, but now, Fader reports Guwop’s probation has ended two years early.

Last month, Guwop’s legal team filed court documents to end his probation period early and the motion was not opposed. Judge Steve C. Jones signed the papers on Aug. 23.

After his release, Gucci said that prison changed his life. “I needed to see it,” he explained. “It’s a big deterrence. It made me say, ‘I don’t wanna come back here, ever. I’ll change my whole life not to come back here.'”

Fresh off winning his first VMA for Fifth Harmony’s “Down,” Guwop is set to release his new album, Mr. Davis, on Sept. 15 featuring The Weeknd, Big Sean, Monica, ScHoolboy Q, and Chris Brown. His first book, The Autobiography of Gucci Mane, arrives in bookstores on Sept. 19.
