The Queen has spoken out following the terror attack

The Queen has given a statement message to police in the capital, after she was forced to cancel a planned appearance to open the Metropolitan Police’s new headquarters, in light of the ordeal.
In a message to the acting commissioner for the police service, Craig Mackey, the Monarch apologised for postponing her trip.
It: “Following the shocking events in Westminster, Prince Phillip and I are sorry that we will not be able to open the New Scotland Yard building as planned today, for very understandable reasons.
“I look forward to visiting at a later date.
“My thoughts, prayers, and deepest sympathy are with all those who have been affected by yesterday's awful violence.
“I know I speak for everyone in expressing my enduring thanks and admiration for the members of the Metropolitan Police Service and all who work so selflessly to help and protect others.”
The official Royal Family Twitter account also shared the message for their 2.85million followers.

The Acting Commissioner and Commissioner-Elect, Cressida Dick, were due to meet the Queen before she toured the building and met officers. She was also scheduled to attend a reception for staff members, which has also been postponed.

The message comes after a terrifying incident took place in Westminster.
An attacker drove a car into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, before fatally wounding a policeman.

The unarmed officer has since been confirmed as PC Keith Palmer, a father and husband.
Up to 40 people are thought to have been injured in the ordeal, and four – including the officer and the attacker – have died.

As reports of the attack unfolded, messages of hope for London were posted across social media, with many taking to Twitter to unite over the tragedies.
Famous faces around the world also shared encouraging messages for everyone affected.
