President Donald Trump has signed an executive order to build a wall along America’s border with Mexico

It’s one of two executive orders Mr Trump has signed today in keeping with his campaign promises to boost border security and crack down on immigrants living in the United States illegally, the Associated Press reported.
The second order stripped funding for so-called “sanctuary cities”, which don’t arrest or detain illegal immigrants.
Asked how quickly construction of the border wall will commence during an interview with ABC, Mr Trump said it would happen within "months”.
“As soon as we can, as soon as we can physically do it,” he told ABC anchor David Muir.
“I would say in months, yeah, I would say in months. Certainly planning is starting immediately.”
Mr Trump also insisted Mexico will end up paying for the wall, although American taxpayer dollars will fund it initially.
“We will be in a form reimbursed by Mexico, which I’ve always said,” the president said.
“All it is, is we’ll be reimbursed at a later date from whatever transaction we make from Mexico. I’m just telling you there will be a payment. It will be in a form, perhaps a complicated form. What I’m doing is good for the United States. It’s also going to be good for Mexico. We want to have a very stable, very solid Mexico.”

Junior United States Senator from California and lawyer Senator Kamala Harris said the order was bad news for Americans.
In a statement received by KTLA, the senator said: “These executive orders will harm public safety, tear families apart, and jeopardise national security and will not have the positive impact Mr Trump intended.
“Directing a deportation force to break up immigrant families contributing to our country is not a show of strength, it damages our communities and erodes local economies. Forcing taxpayers to foot the bill for a wall isn’t a solution, it’s a political gesture.
“And telling cities they must deny public safety, education and health care services to children and families living within their jurisdiction will not make us more secure, it will mean fewer crimes reported and more families living in fear.”
